What CheckIP does

CheckIP is a set of eight network tools that answer common questions about IP addresses, hosts and connections. The home page detects your public IP address and shows your IPv4 and IPv6 address, ISP, approximate location and browser details as soon as the page loads. The other tools work on any IP address or domain you enter.

  • Check IP shows your own public IP address, ISP and approximate location.
  • IP lookup returns location, ISP, ASN, hostname and whois data for any IP address or domain.
  • Port checker tests whether a TCP port on your connection is open, closed or filtered.
  • Blacklist check looks up an IP address in public DNS blocklists such as Spamhaus, SpamCop and Barracuda.
  • Check host finds the IP address of a website and compares its server location across six GeoIP databases: IPinfo, MaxMind, IP2Location, IPGeolocation.io, DB-IP and Cloudflare.
  • Check ping measures latency and packet loss to a host.
  • Check proxy tests whether HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 proxies respond.
  • Speed test measures download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter.

Where our IP data comes from

CheckIP builds each lookup result from public network records and commercial GeoIP databases. Ownership and ASN data come from the records that regional internet registries publish. Location comes from GeoIP databases that map IP ranges to countries and cities: IPinfo, MaxMind, IP2Location, IPGeolocation.io, DB-IP and Cloudflare. The check host tool shows all six results side by side, so you can see where they agree and where they differ. Blacklist status comes from querying public DNS blocklists at the moment you run the check.

IP geolocation is an estimate. Country-level results are usually correct, but the city shown can be tens of kilometers away from the real device, because ISPs often route many customers through one regional hub. No IP lookup tool, ours included, can show a street address or the name of the person using an IP address. Only the ISP holds that link, and it releases it only under a legal process.

Who runs CheckIP

CheckIP is a product of VPN TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS COMPANY LIMITED, based at 80 Ha Dac Street, Trung My Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The company develops and maintains the tools, the servers behind them and the guides published on this site. Our network guides explain topics such as public and private IP addresses, DNS, ports and router settings in plain language, and each one links to the tool that answers the question it covers.

How we handle your data

CheckIP needs your IP address to show it to you, and it needs the address or domain you type to run a lookup. We do not ask for your name, email or payment details to use any tool. We do not sell lookup history or browsing data. The full details, including what we log and for how long, are in our privacy policy. The rules for using the tools, including automated access, are in our terms of service.
